Microsoft's big investment plans for AI REVEALED

Microsoft, which is in the computer software manufacturing industry, has disclosed its multi-year investment plan of up to $1.3 billion for the development of structures in Mexico for cloud computing and artificial intelligence over the next three years.

On Tuesday, Microsoft’s Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella, speaking at an event in Mexico City, said, “We are certainly doubling down on bringing more capacity to Mexico.”

According to the statement, the primary investment plan involves enhancing the link and increasing the backing of AI technology in SMBs.

The statement implied that the new plan is aimed at reaching over 5 million Mexicans and 30000 SMBs in three years

Previously, Mexican firms, including Bimbo-breadmaker and Cemex-cement producer, had already benefited from Microsoft’s AI tools.

According to Microsoft’s statement, the firm is working with communications firm Viasat to bring internet to over 150,000 Mexicans without cell service by December 2025.

“This is great news for our country,” incoming Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard said in a post on X after meeting with Nadella, as the planned investment points to helping Mexico quickly ramp up its AI development.
